What SHOULD Industries/Companies do about this problem?
The U.S. is an industry-based country and if water is to be saved and safe to drink, then industries must change for the better.
Leaks and Pipe Systems
Most companies are spending thousands of money on water due to old pipes that are vulnerable to leaks. Some may think that fixing old pipe values and caps and having workers monitor leakage is too much work and requires a lot of money. However, this is false considering that in reality companies would be saving a lot of money. For example, a leading U.K. supermarket chain has saved 1.6 million pounds (about $2.4 million) after fixing leaks, installing sensors on urinals, and reducing toilet water capacity, according to Ethical Corporation.

Staff Education
Even if the CEO of a big company wants to save water, if the employees aren't educated then most of them won't care. That is why staff education is necessary. Companies should establish an education program to promote awareness of water conservation in the work place. If an employee found out that a grey water filter broke, they should know what to do and who will fix it. There needs to be meetings with the people who run the company on new ways to conserve water. All these things are important not just the company but for the economy.

Waste Disposal
Industrial fields such as construction, manufacturing, automotive garages, and others produce a lot of waste. Whether the waste be toxic or not, it needs to be disposed of properly. If the waste is not disposed properly, then it may enter our water due to river/lake pollution or chemicals seeping into groundwater. One of the best ways to get rid of waste is by recycling. Plastics, metals, and glass are not the only items that can be recycled. If handled correctly, Hazardous Waste can be reused
